To mark Chinese New Year, Bun House have crafted their ‘Sweet Lucky Yu’ buns. Playfully sculpted into the shape of fish, each bun is filled with a stream of ube custard. These cute fish-shaped buns represent a year overflowing with luck, joy and sweetness as fish in Chinese culture is a homonym  (the pronunciation of ‘fish’ (魚) is Yu which sounds similar to the word for ‘surplus’ or ‘leftover’ (餘)). Available to buy in-store from Saturday 25th January, get ready to swim on down to Chinatown!

This Lunar New Year, Taiyakiya have put a creative new year spin on their signature fish-shaped Japanese waffles. Their Nian Gao Taiyakiya features a traditional Niao Gao filling wrapped in black sesame, coming together to make the perfectly sweet limited-edition treat to enjoy this Chinese New Year.

To celebrate Lunar New Year, Rasa Sayang has reintroduced Yu Sheng to it’s menu, a tossed salad-based dish said to bring abundance, prosperity, and vigour. Families and loved ones traditionally gather together to toss its ingredients in the air whilst shouting auspicious wishes in a celebration called Lo Hei (translating to ‘toss high’).
Available from 23th January to 12th February. Dine-in and takeaway Yu Sheng is available for £38.80 (2-4 pax) or £58.80 (5-8 pax).
