Speedboat Bar
Tucked away on Rupert Street, Speedboat Bar will transport you to the streets of Bangkok in just the way Head Chef Luke Farrell remembers it – music, fragrant soups and earthy curries.
The kitchen houses a huge bullet oven and a row of fiery woks to ensure all dishes are cooked to perfection. But it doesn’t stop there; Speedboat Bar is as much of a bar as it is a restaurant, so the drinks menu does not disappoint, from snake blood Negronis to slushie beers flavoured with honey, calamansi, and ginger poured into large frozen glasses.
The name ‘Speedboat Bar’ comes from Farrell’s fond memories of the long speedboats that would race down the canals in Bangkok. Upstairs lays the clubhouse where there are many portraits of the racers that have been passed onto Farrell during these visits.
